Quilting is breathing for me. I find great pleasure in every aspect of the
art. Where will I find the image that triggers the inspiration? The hours, days, and sometimes years, I work a project in my thoughts and drawings. Choosing the fabrics. Letting the fabrics argue their way into the design. The construction of the top and the magic that happens during the embroidering, quilting, and embellishing phase, where will my thoughts take me? All my avenues of thought and wonder are rolled up in my quilts. I wonder what the next step will be. Where will this fabric take me and gladly, I embark into the next place.

My greatest achievements are my three wonderful daughters, Jenna, Julie, and Kate. Jenna is a recent graduate of the University of Delaware. Julie and Kate are attending Greenfield Community College. Each has taken on a piece of me and explored it to the max! Jenna has been involved with Marching Bands and Equestrian Competitions, and she is currently looking into grad school. Julie is a third-year Art Student and has recently completed a 40’ x 12’ outdoor mural with me at my school. Kate is an outstanding singer and actress. She recently played Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz at her high school, and she is involved in a band (Feeny.tk) where she writes lyrics, music, and is the lead singer.

Denise Wood lives in Western Massachusetts with her three daughters. She teaches Elementary School and has an Afternoon Quilting Club.
